Partnership and teamwork spell Indiance success

We at Indiance (New Zealand’s Original Bollywood Dance School) have been writing about our forthcoming mega event ‘360°Bollywood,’ rehearsals for which are now being held every day.

While this bonanza has the benefit of involvement of more than 150 performers, backstage, production, marketing and others, there are two persons who are the key initiators, producers, directors and performers.

They are Akshita and Paresh Nama, whose partnership at home, work and at the School has been a source of inspiration to all of us at Indiance.

Impressive growth

Established in 2005, the organisation registered impressive growth, evincing increasing interest among the young and the old.

Realising the need to institutionalise Indiance, Akshita decided to form a team of people who would share her passion, professional ethics and high standards of performance on and off stage.

With the vision and wholehearted support of her husband Paresh, Indiance set on its second phase of growth.

They looked at people who were present at all their shows and invited them to join the organisation.

“It is these individuals who helped in making my dreams a reality,” she said.

School & Company

There are two sides to Indiance, namely the Dance School and Production Company.

The School consists of four persons who are in charge of the day-to-day operations, while the Production Company accounts for seven people who conceptualise, organise and manage shows.

They select dancers and others from the School for their productions.

Their three-hour long twice-weekly meetings help them to understand the requirements, available talent and assess their potential to meet challenges and undertake tasks successfully.

Akshita Nama

Akshita is the executive producer, lead choreographer and visionary of Indiance.

She takes the final decision on all aspects of our shows.

As well as teaching students, she choreographs dance numbers.

She is the face of Indiance. She talks to the media and potential sponsors, sets priorities and delegates work among the teams at the School and the Production Company.

The Dance School has three teachings assistants (Rachna, Neelam and Deepna) who help Akshita to take seven classes every week.

They manage students, fees, timetables, rehearsal venues and music material for them to practice at home.

Paresh Nama

Paresh is the Head of the production team.

He organises and delegates jobs for the team to ensure the success of every show.

He brainstorms story ideas with his team and creates the script with them.

He later discusses relevant issues with the Production Manager, Director and Choreographer to map out details relating to every scene and sequence.

The Director works with actors, while the Technical Manager coordinates with his team on sound, lights and special effects.

Joint efforts, dedication and commitment have made Indiance a professional organisation.

It is the strength of our team that gives us the confidence to promise you an event that would meet high standards of professionalism.

We will provide more details of our forthcoming 360°Bollywood’ show in the ensuing editions of Indian Newslink.

Rahul Parbhoo is a member of the Indiance Committee based in Auckland.
