Make your home Vastu compliant with simple remedies.

Vastu Shastra is an Indian science developed thousands of years ago that prescribes rules for construction of buildings and Temples.

Structures built according to Vastu Shastra principles are said to vibrate with ‘universal positive energy’ resulting in all-round health, wealth and prosperity for the occupants.

The fundamental principle of Vastu Shastra is to add ‘Value to the Life of the occupants’ by bringing harmony between them, the nature and the built environment.

Fundamentally, it aims to remove negative energy and enhances positive energy of the house so that a person, family or business inhabiting a building becomes progressive and prosperous.

Neutralising negativity

Most of us today buy ready-to-move houses or apartments or rent them.

Often, the dwelling we buy or rent is not Vastu compliant; but it does not mean that we cannot improve the positive energies of the dwelling or neutralise negative energies.

The balancing of the energies can be achieved by using simple Vastu remedies like colours, change of placements of household items and auspicious symbols that help to establish the universal positive energy cycle.

Occupants feel the positive effect of the corrections generally within 15 to 45 days depending on the intensity of the Vastu defects.

Five Tips

Five simple Vastu tips that can help you feel energised and invigorated:

Keeping the North-East portion clutter free and open at all times gives clarity of mind and aids in attracting wealth towards you.

Place a water fountain/feature in North-East part of home. Make sure that water in the fountain is always moving; movement of water denotes flow of positive energy and wealth.
Decorate the main or entrance door of your home distinctively to enable prosperity and wealth find you easily. Also decorate the name and number plate of your home. Keep this area brightly lit and beautifully coloured. Each direction has colour/s that compliments it. For example, blue of a shade of blue compliments North.

Always make sure to keep the centre of home as a free area. Never put any heavy item like furniture in this part of a house as this is the Brahmasthan. If possible, put a skylight to make this part well-lit from the above.

Direction of a person while sleeping is very important in Vastu Shastra. One should try to sleep with head towards the South and Feet towards the North. However, one may sleep with feet towards the West and head towards the East for mental peace, good thoughts and spirituality.

A Case Study

Problem: Couple on the verge of separation

A happily married couple after 20 years of happy married life were on the verge of separation.

Investigation

On gridding the house and mapping the directions, it was found that the house entry direction was good. The master bedroom was in South West corner of their house. It was found that a few months ago, they got their house repainted and made a green colour feature wall in their master bedroom and put green and blue curtains.

On further analysis, it was found that after a month or so of repainting, one of the partners had an extra marital affair and this lead to quarrels, accelerating discord.

Remedy

They have lived in the same house for last 10 years and never had any major relationship issues and prospered well as a family. This pointed to the presence of wrong/destructive element in the South West direction which influences relationship and skills.

South West is the direction of earth element and the Vastu compliant colour is yellow.

Green is an anti-element for this zone as it represents the air (wood) element.

For remedy, the master bedroom was painted yellow and curtains were changed to off white colour with self-pattern of rectangles (square and rectangle are SW shapes). Their bedroom had a picture of Radha-Krishna which was removed, and a pair of love birds was placed on the bed side table.

Within 30 days of these changes, the couple reconciled and are now living happily together.
