Poetry and musical evening

Lovers of poetry and ghazals could expect an evening of lyrics, creativity and melody this weekend in Auckland.

The Urdu Hindi Cultural Association Of New Zealand is organising Mushaira, Kavi Sammelan and Sham-E-Ghazal from 630 pm on February 19, 2012 at the Fickling Convention Centre in Three Kings.

Association secretary Syed Mujeeb Hyderabadi said National MP Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi would be the chief guest.

“Entry is open and free to all. The programme would be hosted by MM Baig Taimoori (Mushaira), Roopa Suchdev (Kavi Sammelan) and Nasir Khan (Sham-E-Ghazal),” he said.

Among the participants at the Mushaira are Mohammed Tauqir Khan, Syed Mujtaba Hassan, Aatur Rahman Quraishi, Rana Farhat Malik, Bal Madan, Syed Mujeeb Hyderabadi, M A Haque and Dr Rias Alvi.

The Kavi Sammelan will consist of Somnath Gupta, Harjeet Singh, Manjit Singh, Urmila Seth, Brijinder Singh and Urmila Sachdeva.

Kunika Deish, Nisar Mirza, Virajmaki, Helen, Ubed Ansari, Shaheda Khan, Saima Siddiqui are among the participants in the Sham-e-Ghazal, supported by Raj, Rajnesh (Harmonium), Basant Madhur (Tabla).
