Puppetry extols Adventures of Lord Rama

Free Shows in Auckland next weekend

While Ramayana (or Ramayanam) is widely known to Indians a great Epic depicting the virtues of Lord Rama, an Avatar of Vishnu, His fame is now spread all over the world, thanks to Diwali, celebrated as a Festival of Lights with entertainment and food.

Respect for parents, Gurus and people was a part of Righteous living for Lord Rama, who has been eulogised through drama, dance, film and other forms of performing arts.

Shows in Auckland

He will be the centre of two shows in Auckland, called, ‘Light vs Dark: The Adventures of Rama,’ at 10 am on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Concert Chamber of Auckland Town Hall at 303, Queen Street, Auckland.

The show, created by Agaram Productions, combines puppetry, movement and live music, will be repeated at 11 am on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Bruce Mason Centre, located at The Promenade, Takapuna Beach in North Shore, Auckland.

The Story of Rama

Light vs Dark tells the story of the darkening of the Sun and how light was restored to the earth; and how the legendary lovers, Sita and Rama, are separated by the demon Ravana who cannot bear daylight.

Visual, humorous and spell binding, this promises to be a captivating show that brings all the spectacle and wonder of the story of Diwali to children and families based on Ramayana.
