Rotarians observe ‘Night of the Proms’

The role of the British Queen in administering New Zealand was among the highlights of a Rotary meeting held in Auckland recently.

National MP Simon O’Connor was the Chief Guest at the ‘Night of the Proms’ organised jointly by The Rotary Clubs of Auckland City Sunrise, Auckland East, Auckland Harbourside and Auckland Parnell at the ‘Romfords’ in Mission Bay on July 28, 2012.

“The Queen, who is our Head of State, is among the most prominent people in the world. She is dedicated, hardworking and committed to the welfare of this country. She draws the world’s attention to New Zealand and has provided experience and guidance to 150 prime ministers in 32 countries throughout the Commonwealth,” Mr O’Connor said.

The event marked the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 Olympics.

Rotary District Governor Ron Seeto outlined his vision for the Rotary Year 2012-2013, pledging to enhance community work.

The programme included music and dinner.
