Rotary to launch E-Club in Wellington

In line with the fast-moving technology, the Rotary District 9940 is set to launch and e-Club in association with the Multicultural Council of Wellington.

Wheldon Curzon-Hobson, Secretary of the Multicultural Council Wellington and Member of the Rotary District 9940 Leadership Development Team said that the e-Club will enable members from many different cultures and walks of life to share their diverse ideas and experiences.

“We will talk online about the problems in our own communities and figure out how to fix them. We will then provide training for people to bring our solutions into reality in ways that work best for the community in which they. This will enable dozens of communities to improve their own well-being,” he said.

Wheldon said that he had visited a number of “extraordinary community leaders and social entrepreneurs across New Zealand, Sydney, Manila, Phnom Penh, Bangkok and Hanoi and facilitating Rotary Leadership training here.

“Seeing so many examples of community transformation, I am really excited to coordinate the launch of the new Rotary E-Club of District 9940,” he said.

The Works

According to the Rotary website (www.rotaryeclub9940.com), members will receive an inspirational email every Monday, increasing their awareness of innovative possibilities.

The email will include thoughts by Rotary’s Guest Forum Contributors about various ways of transporting the causes of community problems.

“These Contributors are experts in Age Concern, Business Development, Civic Leadership, Community Development, Conservation, Disability, Economics, Education, Emergency Management, Environment, Healthy Communities, Leadership, Mental Health, Online Communication, Rural Development, Safe Communities, Social Enterprise, Sports & Fitness, Strategic Planning and Youth.”

Wheldon said described the response to the Project as ‘amazing,’ saying that people have caught the vision and believe this could be a significant new way for communities to bring about their own social change.

Membership benefits

The weekly membership is $7, which will include training, stakeholder and membership engagement, free tickets to inspirational workshops with guest speakers, monthly Rotary magazine, full Rotary membership, E-Club leadership development and access to all Rotary International membership resources and networks including Rotary International Fellowship and Discussion Groups, E-Learning and Rotary’s Global Rewards Programme.
