Self-help education by Waitakere Ethnic Board

The Waitakere Ethnic Board is holding an event for the Seniors (55+ at the New Lynn Community Centre on Saturday 27th August between 12 pm and 4 pm.

We have in mind a programme of self-help education with entertainment provided by Ella Kumar, Bollyrobics set to hopefully 1960s and 1970s Hindi music. (Shake it like Shammi J).

We are also considering having some games such as musical chairs or Antakshari.

The programme is yet to be finalised.

Mandeep Kaur Sidhu the Ethnic Liaison Police Officer for West Auckland will give a talk on Personal Safety and Property Safety and maybe also touch on elder abuse.

We will also have health providers stalls for free Diabetes, blood pressure tests, cardio vascular

bowel screening and obesity checks.

Free Lunch and refreshments will also be provided.

For catering purposes this will be a RSVP event.

So, if you know of any seniors who may want to catch a train from South or city side and come to New Lynn on the day.

This would be a good way to make a day of it in New Lynn.

The New Lynn Community Hall is three minutes walking distance from train station.

Waitakere Ethnic Board with support from the Whau Local Board will be hosting this event.
