Serish Khan is the youngest partner of the longstanding Papatoetoe-based law firm Khan & Associates.
She primarily handles the Immigration and deceased estate work for the firm but is also experienced in Residential Conveyancing, Employment and Family Law.
She believes that access to justice and legal services should be available to all people across communities and income groups.
Serish said that her primary goal of becoming a lawyer was to help people from all walks of life and cultures access the justice system.
“I am happy and proud that, over the years in my legal practice, I have had opportunities to help many people who may not have otherwise pursued legal recourse and assistance which they deserved.
I am grateful to have such an amazing platform at Khan & Associates to access a diverse range of people in our community and make a difference in their lives.
I have learnt that sometimes the assistance and understanding that you show to clients now, however small, can have the biggest impact in their lives and in turn influence the lives of their families and future generations for the better.
Though I have been lucky to reach and assist many people, there are many more people and many more years of practice that will hopefully become a part of this narrative.
I believe that fluency in Hindi is an asset to the firm, since I am able to understand clients who are more comfortable in discussing in the Indian language than in English.
There are many dialects but I am able to adjust and understand them well. It is a case of breaking information down into more simple language.
