Shine Forever with Ronita

Every journey has beauty and challenges

Ronita Sharma 2Editor’s Note: It has been some time since a number of our readers have asked us to commence a column dedicated to beauty and fashion, especially skincare and haircare. While the thought of doing so has been with us, it was important to secure the acceptance of an expert who would be able to establish a Beauty Page, and more importantly, keep it going once a month. We believe that we have found the right person in Ronita Sharma, Director & Principal of Forever Shine Beauty Therapy in Central Auckland.

Concern for people’s skincare needs and entrepreneurship are among her notable attributes which won for her the ‘Best Businesswoman of the Year’ Award at the Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards 2014.

This inaugural column is more introductory and informatory in its content than actual beauty consultancy and suggestions. That stuff will follow in our ensuing issues.

Shine Forever with Ronita-Ronita Sharma WebI am not only a businesswoman, beauty and skin therapist, trainer and entrepreneur but also but also a wife, mother and daughter. I enjoy working with people and make them look beautiful and be proud of their beauty and skin.

I established Forever Shine Beauty Therapy eight years ago in Eden Terrace, a herbal and organic beauty clinic for women and men.

I go home and cook for my family of husband and two children and look after them.

It is challenging but I do it all.

I have been a part of the skin and beauty industry for the past 13 years.

We have come a long way from working for reputed spas and resorts to starting my own beauty and skin therapy clinic. This journey has been enriching and fulfilling.

Born and raised in a small town in Fiji, I arrived in Auckland to pursue my education and career. It was not easy but I have learnt that hard work and honesty are always rewarding.

At Forever Shine Beauty Therapy, we coach and educate those interested in a career in Beauty and Skin. We stared a Beauty Therapy School and offer a number of courses.

My passion for beauty and healthy skin and body brought me to this column in Indian Newslink. I hope I can look after you personally.

Rising problems

Shine Forever with Ronita- Image 1 WebWomen tend to care after others in the family including partner, children, elders and hence often do not think about themselves. Our modern lifestyle and fast-paced life have given way to stress and paucity of time. We ignore our skin and as time passes, it becomes dull, tired and lifeless.

We then start to seek help with chemicals and make it worse for the skin.

Beauty therapists should understand skincare, associated problems and most important of all, the person seeking treatment or consultancy.

It is also important to know different skin types.

Take charge of your skin now; it is never late to look after yourself.

Some basic tips

Shine Forever with Ronita- Image 2 WebYou should clean your face twice a day- morning and evening. Irrespective of the skin type, all of us collect dirt and debris from environment, sitting on our skin.

Develop a daily skincare routine that cleanses, moisturises and protects your skin. Wash your face as soon as you complete your work shift with a gentle, alcohol-free cleanser.

All skin types can benefit from a gentle, non-drying cleanser, an exfoliate and broad-spectrum protection from sun damage.

Choose cleansers that are mild, non-detergent cleansers; milks, gels, foams, or cloths are your best bet. Study the ingredients found on the labels of products to determine if they contain gentle, plant-derived surfactants (the prefix coco equals coconut, for example; gluco-equals fruit sugars). The name of the product often tells you if it is natural or otherwise.

Finally, using a sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays daily will prevent wrinkles and skin cancer.

Watch what you eat

Avoid greasy, oily and processed foods to have amazing skin.

You may have heard the phrase, “You are what you eat.”

Fatty and fried foods and inadequate intake of water are likely to affect your skin.

Indulging in processed foods like crackers, cookies and in greasy foods like pizzas, burgers, fries, and potato chips will impact your skin first before your body begins to show signs.

Beauty and skincare go hand in hand, especially for those who want to show off their best with confidence.

Therefore, start from the inside; good eating habits of healthy organic foods and foods rich in antioxidants contribute to more beautiful and younger-looking skin.

While there might be deeper issues when it comes to the appearance of your skin, starting with the right types of food may improve your overall complexion.

Every month you will find interesting beauty tips in this section.
