Short Film contest crosses long country borders

The Western Union Short Film Competition 2012 will again be a part of our Annul Film Festival, Bollywood and Beyond, providing fun and entertainment, even as it explores talent.

The Festival, as well as the Short Film Competition will be bigger, brighter and even more Mind Blowing!

The only Film Festival that has danced its way into the Guinness Book of Records has again joined forces with Western Union for its annual continent-jumping short film competition.

With last year’s Australian and New Zealand winners talking to Bollywood bosses and the finalists’ films televised in three countries, the Competition may be short in nature but is long in reach.

From Bollywood’s biggest stars on Australian soil to the broadest range of Indian cinema ever shown in the southern hemisphere, 2012 promises to be the most Mind Blowing Production yet.

New Zealander Indian Rajneel Singh was the winner of the 2011 Short Film Competition for his film, Blank Spaces that captures New Zealand’s stunning landscape, diversity of people and richness of culture.

He described his experience as a winner as ‘fantastic.’

“Knowing my film was the New Zealand winner brought immense amount of satisfaction and my career since then has grown, thanks to the exposure the Festival gave me and from the trip to Mumbai which I undertook in August 2011.

“Since then, I have been developing several feature film projects with producers in India, Asia and in New Zealand,” he said.

Rajneel said Mind Blowing Films Film Festival afforded Indian filmmakers a voice in this part of the world and opened new opportunities for them.

Mitu Bhowmick Lange is Managing Director of the Melbourne based Mind Blowing Films Limited and Director of the Indian Film Festival (Bollywood and Beyond).
