One of the most proficient musicians of the Indian film industry will be in Auckland this weekend to present an exclusive violin concert.
M Kalyan, known as the ‘Singing Violin’ will perform on April 7 at 6 pm at the Mt Albert War Memorial Hall.
A veteran of Tamil films, Mr Kalyan is the lead solo violinist for award winning music composer and director A R Rahman.
His son Madan, who is organising the violin concert said that Mr Kalyan has been in the industry for more than 40 years, with a host of songs and instrumental msuic to his credit.
“He has played and performed with almot all popular msuic directors of the past and present eras, including A.R.Rahman, Bharadwaj, Bombay Ravi, Chakravarthy, D Imman, Dakshinamoorthy, Deva, Devan, Devi Sri Prasad, Ekambaram, G. Devarajan, G.K.Venkatesh, G.V. Prakash, Gangai Amaran, Hamsalekha, Harris Jayaraj, Ilayaraja, Johnson, Karthik Raja, Karthik, Koti, M M Kreem (Maragadhamani), M S Viswanathan, Mani Sharma, Salil Chowdary, Shankar Ganesh, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Sirpy, Vidhyasagar, Vishal Bharadwaj snd Yuvan Shankar Raja,” he said.
