South Indian artistes set for Trans-Tasman tour

Devi Sri Prasad, one of the most prolific singers of South Indian Cinema, particularly of the Telugu film industry, will perform in Auckland on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Victory Convention Centre, located at 98 Beaumont Street, Freemans Bay.

Known as ‘Rock Start DSP,’ he will be accompanied by singers of growing fame Divya Menon, Sagar Sathyamurthy, Geetha Madhuri, Ranina Reddy, Ranjith and Rita.

The group will also perform in Sydney (Olympic Park Sports Centre) on May 27, Melbourne (Melbourne Convention Centre) on June 3 and Brisbane (Sleemans Sports Complex Chandler Theatre) on June 10.

Among the organisers of the programmes on either side of the Tasman are the New Zealand Telugu Association, Telugu Association of Australia, the Queensland Telugu Association and several other community organisations in New South Wales.

New Zealand Telugu Association President Dharmendar Alle said that the Tour would have the benefit of professionals in digital promotional strategy.

“The performances would have spectacular theatrics and special audio and visual effects, comparable to the best in the entertainment industry,” he said.

‘Rock Star DSP’ has impressive lineage. Son of popular script writer, the late Satyamurthy, he has been passionate about music and composing music since his formative years. He composed his first South Indian music album when he was a teenager and entered the movie industry as a music director in 1999.

His compositions have been chart toppers; and his consistent high quality popular on-stage performances have earned him the title of ‘Rockstar.’

Mr Alle said that over the past ten years, DSP has composed music that has taken his popularity to a new level.

“He has won the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director over many years and the IIFA Best Music Director Award (South). He has more than 3.5 million followers on Facebook.  He is also the winner of the IIFA Best Music Director Award South (South Indian). True to the title of ‘Rockstar DSP,’ he has enthralled audiences all over the world. We look forward to the performance with his group in Auckland on June 8, 2017,” Mr Alle said.
