For Web Edition-Sri Lankan community bereaved- Thambiah YogeswaranThe Sri Lankan community in Auckland is mourning the death Thambiah Yogeswaran, on May 13, 2015, following illness.

The end came a day before his 63rd birthday.

Community workers Nadesan Nanthakumar said that Mr Yogeswaran had to undergo heart surgery.

“But unfortunately, after fighting courageously for five days in the Intensive Care Unit, he finally surrendered to God,” he said.

Mr Yogeswaran is survived by his wife Gowri, daughter Dhushiyanthi, sons Mauran and Senthuran, son-in-law Kamaleswaran and daughters-in-law Vijiyashankary and Sharmila.

He was cremated at the Purewa Cemetery in Meadowbank on May 17.

“Mr Yogeswaran was born in Sarasalai, Chavakachcheri on May 14, 1952 to Kanthar Thambyah and Kathirasi Sinnathamby. He was third in a family of seven. He joined the Sri Lankan Telecommunication in 1978 and retired as a Telecommunication Engineer in 1999. He married Gowri, a teacher by profession in 1978,” Mr Nanthakumar said.

He migrated to New Zealand in 1998 with his family to provide a better education for children in a peaceful and safe environment.
