Sri Lankans look for trade ties

The committee of the Sri Lanka New Zealand Business Council (SLNZBC) hosted a cocktail reception to welcome a trade delegation from Sri Lanka at the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) office in Auckland on September 24.

Reportedly, this was the first business delegation from Sri Lanka since the Council was established.

The delegates represented a range of trades and were linked to their respective potential partner organisations in New Zealand by NZTE International Market Manager Don Rae.

The delegation comprised directors and owners of renowned companies such as AGXINTL, Copyline, Hayleys Industrial Solutions, Melfore, Microcells, R & G International, Water’s Edge, Pulses Splitting & Processing and Glolan International. The visitors were keen to explore trade opportunities with New Zealand companies.

Among those present were Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka Aruna Abeygoonesekera, SLNZBC President Lal Senaratne, National MPs Dr Jackie Blue and Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi, India New Zealand Business Council Chairman Wenceslaus Anthony and businesses of Sri Lankan origin.
