An event that has continuously enthralled a cross-section of the society encouraging young women to vie for a title that has gained prestige around the world has to be a force to reckon with in this cosmopolitan country.

Dharmesh Parekh launched a beauty pageant 14 years ago exclusively for young women of Indian origin (or with a lineage that can be traced to India) and has, year after year, brought fame and pride to the community.

The winners and runners-up at the annual event have represented New Zealand and the Indian community at international contests held in a number of countries around the world, bringing us joy and pride.

Miss Indianz has been staged in a number of venues in Auckland (apart from regional contests held elsewhere) and this year, the pageant is due to be held at 730 pm at Aotea Centre located at Auckland’s Central Business District on Saturday, September 17, 2016.

Perfect Ten

Mr Parikh said that Miss Indianz this year has attracted 26 contestants from various parts of New Zealand and that the ensuing contest would be a Perfect Ten.

“The creative flair has reached an all-time high this year. The show is wrapped into three beautifully-crafted segments reflecting the values and purpose of Miss Indianz event. The three rounds ‘Kiwi Girl,’ ‘Made in India,’ and ‘Kiwi-Indian Elegance’ have helped us to further define the vision and values of our event,” he said.

New Zealand Choreographer Rina Chae has incorporated a small dance routine into the opening sequence, Mr Parikh said.

“Our crew, Masters of Ceremonies, Judges and production stuff are more diverse than ever before,” he said.
