Three new Partners at PricewaterhouseCoopers

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has admitted three experts to its partnership team at its Auckland and Wellington offices.

The appointments take effect today (July 1, 2013), taking the total number of full equity partners at PwC New Zealand to 112.

Callum Dixon (Advisory, Financial Services) and Andrew Holmes (Auckland Assurance, Risk Controls Solutions) will be based in Auckland, while Kevin Brown (Financial Assurance Practice) will work in Wellington.

Complex challenges

The firm’s Chief Executive Officer Bruce Hassall said that business practices in New Zealand and other parts of the world are fast changing and becoming more complex.

“PwC New Zealand is bolstering its partnership team in response to its clients asking for more business support across a greater number of specialised areas. We are continuing to gear up for growth, investing in areas of our business and adding capacity where we can see demand is strong,” he said.

He said that substantial potential exists in specialised business areas, as the firm’s clients face new challenges, competitors, costs, regulations and markets.

According to Mr Hassall, maintaining and retaining key talent and developing the next generation of leaders were among the greatest challenges faced by businesses.

“Today’s leaders must be able to do it all. I am confident that our newly appointed partners have the strong technical and leadership skills and ability to work across industries. We need to ensure our business is agile and robust,” he said.

Callum Dixon

According to a press release, Mr Dixon joined PwC in 2002 as a graduate, following two summer internships with the firm.

“He has gained experience working in the Cayman Islands and London during this time. He works in Advisory and Assurance practice areas providing treasury, finance and assurance services to his clients,” it said.

Andrew Holmes

Mr Holmes joined PwC in South Africa in 1999 and undertook secondments to the US and UK firms. He joined Toyota South Africa Motors in 2005 as the Head of Internal Audit, and was promoted to head Risk and Controls.

He re-joined PwC in 2007 in the US, served the firm’s most important global clients, undertook several leadership roles and was transferred to PwC New Zealand in 2010.

“With his blend of financial, risk management and IT related skills, Mr Holmes will focus on growing the RCS practice further to meet future market needs. His skill-set fits across the internal audit, risk management and systems process assurance areas of the business,” the press release said.

Kevin Brown

Mr Brown joined PwC New Zealand on a secondment from the UK firm (Southampton Office) in 2004. The press release said that he has a broad range of skills and expertise developed by working across a diverse portfolio of clients.

“A specialist in the retail and insurance sectors, he is responsible for a majority of the firm’s Wellington clients in this area. He also has a strong interest in the oil and gas industry and is growing his involvement in this high potential sector,” it said.

The new assignment comes with his promotion as a Partner.
