Three veterans retire from Police Force

September 28, 2012 may pass as an unremarkable date to many, but for Inspectors Mark Hall, Derek Davison and Superintendent Brett England, it would be a remarkable day, at the end of which, the three officers, with 129 years of collective institutional knowledge and experience, would retire from Auckland Police.

Inspector Hall and Superintendent England have each clocked up 42 years of service while Inspector Davison tops that with a staggering 45 years.

Superintendent England has had a colourful career in a range of roles – former AOS commander, O/C Op America’s Cup, O/C Rugby World Cup in Auckland, O/C CHOGM – and that is just a small snapshot.

He had a serious health scare recently but received a clean bill of health by his specialist. He intends to make the most of being “out of work.”

Inspector Davison spent 18 years of his long 45-year career, devising meticulous plans on sports, social and public demonstration events as well as VIP and Heads of State visits.

He is widely acknowledged as a planning guru and his skills have been highly sought after and valued by all who have worked alongside him.

Inspector Hall has held the role of O/C Metro Ops – which included Dog Section, Air Support Unit, Maritime Unit, AOS, SAR, SSG and PNT – since 1999.

He said, “It has been a great career that afforded me tremendous opportunities to meet and work with a lot of good people.”

Inspector Hall intends to cruise (at 100km/hour or below) some more highways on his BMW 1200 before admitting he is a grownup!
