Auckland based Muthamil Sangam Inc has announced that it has lowered the price of entry tickets to its musical show this weekend in deference to public wishes.
The cost of entry ticket to the 15th Anniversary Celebrations, including dinner is now $20 per adult and $15 per child. The earlier rates were $30 and $20 respectively.
Tamil film industry playback singers MJ Shriram and Srilekha Parthasarathy will be the star attraction at Dorothy Winstone Centre, Auckland Girls Grammar School, 16 Howe Street, Freemans Bay in Auckland on June 5, 2016.
Muthamil Sangam General Secretary Sheba Soundararajan said, “We have done well with sponsorship of the programme. A number of people in the community felt that lower cost of entry tickets would enable them to attend the event with their family and friends. We have therefore decided to reduce the rate,” she said.
Ms Soundararajan hoped that there would be a capacity audience on June 5, 2016.
The event is a major achievement for Muthamil Sangam which conducts a few regular activities, although not on the scale that it did a few years ago.
The Association has modest financial resources and does not enjoy overwhelming generosity of sponsors and advertisers but promotes programmes to preserve Tamil culture and values.
Tamil Nadu has a rich heritage and Tamil-speaking people are passionate about their language and culture. Hence, programmes that are well-organised to promote these aspects of the community would find public patronage and interest.
