Top Institutions support Sir Anand Satyanand Lecture

A number of premier organisations representing quality management, law enforcement, and good governance have expressed their support to the Seventh Annual Indian Newslink Sir Anand Satyanand Lecture 2017.

Among them are the Institute of Directors, Auckland District Law Society, Global Women, Co.OfWomen and the India New Zealand Business Council.

Former Auditor General of New Zealand Lyn Provost is the Guest Speaker at this year’s Lecture scheduled to be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Alexandra Park, Greenlane, Auckland. The event will commence with cocktails and networking at 630 pm followed by an address by former Governor General Anand Satyanand, dinner and the Lecture.

Medtech Global Limited Executive Chairman Vino Ramayah will be the Master of Ceremonies, with Nirvana Health Group Director Ranjna Patel providing Perspectives on Accountability and former Member of Parliament Dr Rajen Prasad giving his Reflections on the Lecture and the Evening’s Proceedings.

Lyn Provost

A Chartered Accountant by qualification, Lyn Provost was appointed by Sir Anand (when he was Governor General of New Zealand) to the post of Controller and Auditor General (C&AG) in October 2009. During her seven-year term (she retired on January 31, 2017), she reported on topics as diverse as governance, education of Maori, Auckland Council and Canterbury earthquakes.

She also undertook and completed several high-profile inquiries.

Ms Provost was also the Secretary General of the Pacific Association of Supreme Audit Institutions (PASAI) and a Member of the International Governing Board of International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAL).

Prior to her appointment as C&AG, Ms Provost was Deputy Commissioner of Police for eight years, the first woman civilian to hold this position.

Other positions held by her included Acting Chief Executive of Archives New Zealand, Branch Manager, State Services Commission and auditing roles in the Audit Office, Touche Ross, London and Pim Goldby, South Africa.

Ms Provost was recently appointed as a public member on the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board located in New York and is the Chair of the Brian Picot Ethical Leadership Advisory Board.

She is married with two children.

The Lecture

The Indian Newslink Sir Anand Satyanand Lecture has been structured as a mark of respect and tribute to Sir Anand, who retired as the Governor General of New Zealand after five years in office on August 23, 2011.

The Lecture features topics of interest to those in governance roles, management professionals and those on the growth path of their career.

Sir Anand Satyanand, Lady Susan Satyanand, India’s High Commissioner to New Zealand, decision makers, corporate and community leaders including government officials attend the Lecture to carry the benefits of the Lecture to their professional lives.

This project is non-political and non-commercial, intended to bring the best of the intellect available to speak at the annual event. We are hopeful that it would grow and progress as an Institution that befits the name with which it is associated.

India New Zealand Business Council
