Two Violin maestros for three cities

Violin masters Nagaraj and Manjunath will perform in three cities next weekend.

Known as the ‘Mysore Brothers,’ after the ancient Capital of the then Mysore State (now Karnataka), they are hailed as ‘Violinists with amazing gift’ and have delighted audiences throughout the world with the prowess on one of the most challenging music instruments.

Auckland based Rasikas New Zealand, Sangeetha Bharathi School of Music, New Zealand Indian Fine Arts Society and Raaga New Zealand are jointly organising the concert of the famous violinists in the two cities.

Their tour will begin in Hamilton with a performance on Friday, August 22 at 730 pm at Hillcrest Normal School (218 Cambridge Road). For details, please contact Malathi Vasudevan on 021-942699.

The Auckland Concert will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 530 pm at Raye Freedman Art Centre of Epsom Girls Grammar School located on Silver Road. Priya Srinivasan (021-613155) and Padma Govardhan (09 6245922) will provide details.

Arjun Kumar and Giridhar Udupa will accompany the Mysore Brothers respectively on Mridangam and Ghatam.

Trained by their father Vidwan Mahadevappa, also a renowned violinist, the Mysore Nagaraj and Manjunath follow the tradition of Saint Thyagaraja, composer of several immortal songs.

The Mysore Brothers have a long list of performances on the world stage to their credit.
