World Vision seeks child sponsors

Seven-Year-old Sarita Kumari may want her family to come out of depressing poverty if she could continue her studies (she is now in Grade 1 Primary).

She could become a great artist – her favourite pastime is drawing. She spends much of her spare time in performing domestic chores of cooking and cleaning.

Branto Marandi is just five-years of age and has two sisters. Their parents are too poor to afford his education.

They belong to the North-Eastern Indian State of Jharkand. Both children have potential to become great citizens of India and the world, provided they have a good start in life if someone like you can help.

Hundreds of thousands of children like Sarita and Branto need help and need it fast. It would be at least another 10 years before an estimated 200 million people rise above the poverty line in India.

If your heart goes for such children and if you could spare $45 a month, you would be the proud sponsor of Sarita or Branto or many others through World Vision New Zealand.

This not-for-profit organisation has, since its establishment in 1970, helped more than thousands of children worldwide and currently supports 55 projects in more than 25 countries.

World Vision New Zealand Chief Executive Chris Clarke said moral and political will determine the success of such organisations.

“We are on the cusp of a unique period in history. For the first time, the world community has the technology, knowhow and capacity to eradicate extreme poverty. ,” he said.

American evangelist Reverend Dr Bob Pierce established World Vision in 1950 in response to the needs of Korean War orphans, although his traumatic experiences of seeing a battered child in China three years earlier was the starting point.

The organisation has touched the hearts of millions of people today.

If you are moved to sponsor these unfortunate children, call World Vision on free phone 0800-70-5000 or visit www.worldvision.org.nz
