Youth Conference to foster Hindu customs

The significance of Hindu customs, values and traditions and the importance of preserving and promoting them will be discussed at a forthcoming conference of, by and for youth.

Hindu Youth New Zealand, a part of Hindu Council of New Zealand is organising the one-day event at Aotea Centre in Auckland’s Central Business District on Saturday, March 1, 2014.

‘Dynamic You-the Power of Youth,’ is the theme of the conference, which is third in an annual series, aimed at stimulating the younger members of the Hindu community to understand Hinduism better.

Conference Coordinator Nitika Sharma said that among the objectives of the Conference is to build and enhance leadership values in Hindu Youth.

“It also aims to provide a platform for assimilation between Hindu youth of various sampradayas (traditions or religious systems), sects and groups. There is a need to provide our young men and women a stimulating atmosphere, enabling them to examine the contribution of Hindu society to New Zealand by appreciating our Hindu heritage and our Hindu identity,” she said.

Delegates to the Conference will have an opportunity of listening to the success stories of youngsters, apart from words of appreciation and advice from officials of the Government and not-for-profit organisations.

Further details can be obtained from Nitika Sharma on 021-1579129.
