The Ahmadiyya Muslim community will conduct its annual ‘Jalsa Salana’ on January 26 and 27, 2018 at ‘Baitul Muqeet Mosque’ located at 20 Dalgety Drive in Wiri, South Auckland.

Started by the Community’s Founder Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as a small gathering of the Ahmadi Muslims in India more than 100 years ago, the annual convention is now held in several countries worldwide attracting thousands of guests from across the globe.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at New Zealand President Bashir Khan described ‘Jalsa Salana’ as a unique event in the history of his community.

Fostering brotherhood

“While its primary purpose remains to enhance the connection of man with his Creator, it also serves to bring our members together from across the country and beyond. This get-together of people from diverse backgrounds develops a sense of belonging and brotherhood that is unique to our community worldwide,” he said.

A special session to be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 27, 2018 will be open to guests from all faiths.

“The event thus forms part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community’s efforts to encourage dialogue and to increase understanding between all faith groups,” Mr Khan said.
