Auckland, December 19, 2017

Alexandra Park’s dining packages for the 2017 Auckland Cup are selling faster than previous years with just two weeks until the popular New Year’s Eve race meeting.

As Auckland harness racing’s biggest race of the season, the $250,000 Trillian Trust Auckland Cup is known as the race of champions. This year again promises some of New Zealand’s best racing combined with a growing number of free off-track attractions.

Tickets to the sumptuous buffet dinner in the Tasman Room range from $60 per person through to $100 for premium beverage packages.

Tasman Room View

Alexandra Park Sales & Events Coordinator Danielle Upton said that the spacious Tasman Room has stunning floor-to-ceiling windows offering a fantastic view of all the racing action.

She said that Alexandra Park can accommodate any groups from two to 100 people on December 31, with the President’s Suite still available for groups larger than 30 people looking for a more VIP experience with colleagues, friends, or family.

The Alex Bar & Eatery and The Lyell Creek Lounge will also be open, offering more casual dining options.

Free amenities

Chief Executive Dominique Dowding said that the team has worked hard to design a fabulous day that is free for the whole family to attend.

General admission, car-parking, race books and entertainment – both on and off the track – are all free.

With the gates set to open from 2 pm, there will be food trucks, ice creams, a bouncy castle, horse rides, face painting and much more, with racing taking place from around 3 pm to 8 pm. Then after the last race there will be a fireworks’ display and a performance by band Split Second.

Tickets and bookings however are required for those who want to secure dining packages in the Tasman Room to enjoy the last afternoon of 2017 in style.
