‘Save Taj envelope’ creates a record

A postgraduate student of Taj City has claimed to have created the world’s largest envelope to carry the message of “Save Taj Mahal from polluted Yamuna.”

Garima Angel, a student of MSc final year in Agra College, said, “I have set a new entry for the Guinness Book of World Records. My envelope is 14.51 metres long, 9.86 metres wide and weighs around 50 kg.

“It has been made of card sheets joined by glue, and is yellow in colour,” she said.

According to her, an Aligarh Muslim University student held the previous record by creating an envelope that was 11.02 metres long and 7.61 metres wide.

“It took me more than a month to create the envelope. My aim was to highlight the grim problems faced by the Taj Mahal, including environmental pollution and a dirty river,” she said.

The envelope was on display in the City.

Garima plans to send it to President Pranab Mukherjee or Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

Written messages of lovers of the Taj Mahal would be placed inside the envelope before dispatch, she said.

“I am working out the best way to send the Envelope,” Garima said.
