Septuagenarian teacher passes away in Auckland

We regret to announce that Hema Nadgir, a well-known person in community and social circles, passed away at the Waitakere Hospital yesterday (Sunday), August 25, 2019.

The end came at 9.15 am as she lost her battle with Cancer.

Her funeral will be held tomorrow (Tuesday, August 27, 2019) at 11 am at Ann’s Funeral Home and Onsite Cremations, located at 11C Bolderwood Place, Wiri, South Auckland.

Ms Nadgir was 79 years old and left behind her two sons Vinayak and Ravi Shankar, daughters-in-law Rachna Vinayak and Purnima Shankar, grandsons Anurag Vinayak, Rohan Shankar, Varun Shankar and granddaughter Vanshika Vinayak.

Social Service

Migrating to New Zealand with her husband and family in 2008, Ms Nadgir has been an active member and volunteer of Shanti Niwas Charitable Trust and other community and social welfare organisations.

She was earlier a Sanskrit Teacher and was a keen participant at Bhagavad Geetha discourses, Bhajans and Satsang conducted in various parts of Auckland.

Ms Nadgir was among the pioneers of Kannada Shale (School) which encourages people from the South Indian State of Karnataka to learn their Mother Tongue.  Indian Newslink extends its sincere condolences to the bereaving family and prays for the departed soul to rest in peace.
