The Sigatoka Chamber of Commerce & Industry, which has been dormant, is to get a new lease of life.
Nadi Chamber of Commerce & Industry President Dr Ram Raju held a meeting in Sigatoka on Sunday, January 21, 2018 kickstarting the revival efforts.
Interim officials
Dr Salik Ram Govind, owner of Shalini Gardens and a Hotel in Olosara was appointed Interim Chairman.
It is understood that 17 individuals, representing various sections of the business community attended the meeting along with Fiji Chamber of Commerce & Industry Vice-President Annemarie De Voss.
Dr Raju highlighted the mission, vision, aims and objectives of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and how such an august body can contribute towards local and national economic growth, development, vestments and productivity.
Members present unanimously agreed on the revival and approved a Resolution to rename it ‘Nadroga Chamber of Commerce and Industry.’
Among the other interim office-bearers elected included Vijay Narayan of Sigatoka Electric (Vice-President); Dr Ashank Naidu (Secretary & Treasurer), Shanil Naidu of True Blue Hotel, Sesha Reddy, Natwar Singh, Rajend Singh (Members).
The Meeting decided to incorporate a woman later.
The Interim Committee will draft a Constitution and organise the Inaugural General Meeting. An invitation will be extended to all businesses in Nadroga.
