Teenage painter showcases prowess of the brush

Venkat Raman –

The fact that our children have immense talent was demonstrated by 13-year-old Eksimar Sahni at her solo exhibition of paintings last month.

The fact that parental support, sacrifice and guidance are quintessential was also proved by her parents Harneet Singh and Parmeet Sahni, who invested all their spare time for promoting their daughter.

Paintings

And the result showed. Eksimar had about 75 people visiting her gallery of 25 paintings at the exhibition held on December 19, 2015 at Mt Roskill War Memorial Hall, located at 13 May Road in Mt Roskill.

Among them were National MP Dr Parmjeet Parmar and Jeet Suchdev, Chairman, Bharatiya Samaj Charitable Trust, which sponsored the exhibition.

Appropriately titled, ‘Aura of Colours,’ the exhibition was held under the theme, ‘Belle Femme’ (‘Beautiful Woman’).

The verdict of most visitors was unanimous: “This little girl is expressive and artistic.”

Gifted child

Describing her daughter as a child prodigy, Ms Sahni said that Eksimar is most comfortable with her colour palette and canvas.

She started painting when she was three years old, an age in which many other children would spend time on toys and games, not brush and paint.

“Art is an outlet for our creativity and Eksimar touches different themes through the splashes of colour. Her paintings have been showcased in the past and she not only got appreciation but her work sold out as hot cakes,” she said.
