Change of venue for Mushaira evening

Staff Reporter –

The venue for the trilogy of Poetry, Music and Ghazal has been moved to Freemans Bay Community Hall, located at 52 Hepburn Road, Ponsonby in Central Auckland.

The programme will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 6 pm.

Organiser Syed Mujeeb Hyderabadi said that all other aspects of the three-hour programme organised by the Urdu Hindi Cultural Association of New Zealand will remain as per the earlier announcement (Indian Newslink, May 1, 2015).

Guests of Honour

Members of Parliament Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi, Parmjeet Parmar (National) and Mahesh Bindra (New Zealand First) Abbas Raza Alvi of Australia and Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand President Dr Anwar Ghani will be Guests of Honour.

As in the past years, Ghouse Majeed, a South Auckland based businessman, will host the programme titled, ‘Sham E Ghazal Kavi Sammelan Mushaira Night 2015.’

Annual Magazine

“The three-in-one event will include the release of our annual magazine ‘Dhanak’ by Councillor Alf Filipaina and Puketapapa Local Board Member Ella Kumar. We are fortunate that Mr Alvi, one of the foremost poets and people of lore will be arriving from Sydney to participate in the programme,” Mr Hyderabadi said.

As well as being a successful entrepreneur, Mr Alvi is an inspiring orator and community networker and is fluent in English, Hindi, Urdu, and Russian. He also understands Punjabi and Arabic. He will lead the Sadr-e-Mushaira, setting the tone for the evening’s creative segment.

Mushaira Segment

Mohammad Tauqir Khan, known to us as Piyami, will host the Mushaira segment with Farah Alvi, Ghouse Majeed, Saima Siddiqui and Syed Mujeeb Hyderabadi as participants.

Kavi Sammelan

Preeta Vyas of Radio Tarana will host ‘Kavi Sammelan’  with panellists Bal Madan, Brijinder Singh, Mahindar Singh Chaddha, Sangat Singh, Shiv Bhagirath, Soman Gupta and Suman Kapoor.

Sham-e-Ghazal

Ghazals form the most melodious part of a literary evening and Roopa Suchdev, we believe, would be at her cultural best as the host of the Sham-e-Ghazal.

Arvinder Vasudeva, Azeem Anwar, Baljeet Kaur, Kiran Jeet Singh, Nissar Mirza, Preeti Bartwal, Prabh Saran Singh and Dr Vaishali Mona Verma would present their Ghazals.

Further information can be obtained from Ghouse Majeed on 021-393466, Patrick Bennett on 027-6756504, Syed Mujeeb Hyderabadi on 021-1602135 or Suman Kapoor on 021-1801234
