Education provider to launch new programmes

A leading Private Training Establishment (PTE) and educational institution is to launch new programmes in Early Childhood Education and Care later this month.

New Zealand School of Education (NZSE) is introducing the National Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care Level 3 at the end of October 2014 and Level 5 in February 2015.

Managing Director Brijesh Sethi said that the new programmes were developed to meet the needs of stakeholders including Māori, Pasifika and migrant communities.

“Our mission is to produce successful graduates through exciting educational experiences. NZSE has a dedicated career services team which focuses on building strong relationships with New Zealand businesses and engaging with employers on a regular basis to prepare our students for the job market. We have had successful placement outcomes with several large undertakings including Vodafone, Fujitsu, iiNet, Telecom, Woosh, Hewlett Packard, Sky TV, 2Degrees Mobile Limited, Revive Technology and Cyclone Computers,” he said.

Impressive growth

Established in 2003, NZSE has grown from strength to strength, accounting for three campuses, one each in West Auckland (New Lynn), Central Auckland (Queen Street) and South Auckland (Manukau).

“Our campuses provide educational opportunities to domestic and international students. NZSE is firmly rooted in the belief that every aspiring student should have access to quality tertiary education. Today, NZSE has 23 Certifications and 19 Diplomas approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority to serve the multiple needs of domestic and international students,” Mr Sethi said.

Five Major Schools

NZSE incorporates the School of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), School of Business, School of Design, School of Animation, School of English and Foundation Studies and School of Early Childhood Education.

“NZSE has taken the approach of aligning our focus with Government’s long term goal. We have taken initiatives of developing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) related programmes and keeping with the Leadership statement for international education which aims to double the economic value of export education within the next 15 years,” Mr Sethi said.

Varsity Partners

The Institution has established a number of collaborative agreements with Massey University, AUT University, Unitec, NorthTec, Manukau Institute of Technology in New Zealand and with a number of institutes in China, India and other countries.

Mr Sethi said that NZSE recently opened its first offshore office in Mumbai to partner with Indian institutions and facilitate overseas provisioning of its programmes.

“We are very proud of the achievements made by our School of Business. Since the launch of first programme, it has been the fastest growing school of NZSE with most of the growth coming from the Indian Sub-continent. The School has established strong pathway programmes from the Diplomas in Level 5, 6 and 7 into the Bachelor and Master programmes in New Zealand Universities and Polytechnics. The School aims to equip students with knowledge of a range of business skills and provide them the real time experience in business related roles including Finance, Accounting, Management, Marketing and Strategic Planning,” he said.

Breakfast series

The School organises breakfast series (and Dragon’s Den) to provide opportunities to students to meet with the leaders in their areas, learn from their valuable experiences and be inspired by their success.

NZSE is now approved for the Certificate in Foundation Studies (level 3) and the Certificate in Academic Skill (level 4). This suite of programmes was developed to align with the Government’s goal of enhancing STEM programmes within tertiary education.

Students with little or no academic frame of reference and a lack of familiarity with academic practice will be equipped for entry into undergraduate degree or diploma programmes, in STEM and Computing and Information Systems, either with NZSE or with other providers.
