Idol wave hits Radio Tarana

Music enthusiasts and those keen in putting their singing talent to test, have a unique chance of doing so as the Third ‘Radio Tarana Idol 2012’ gets under way in New Zealand.

Auditions are held from 5 pm to 7 pm (Monday to Friday) at the Radio Tarana studios located at Level Two, 35 George Street (Off New North Road, Eden Terrace) in Mt Eden.

Programme Executive Pawan Prasad said that the response to this year’s event has been enthusiastic.

“More than 50 aspirants have registered thus far for the auditions. The contest is still open for New Zealanders and registration forms can be downloaded from our website (www.tarana.co.nz). Details can be obtained over phone (09) 3032286. The grand finale will be held at the Tarana Studio on May 25,” she added.

According to Mrs Prasad, ‘Radio Tarana Idol’ Contest was established in 2010 to provide opportunities to singers to showcase their talent to the wider community.

“As the Number 1 Indian radio station in the country, Radio Tarana has thousands of listeners with varied talents and singing is one of them. This contest aims to encourage people to bring their melodious voices for the appreciation and enjoyment of our listening public. This is also a part of our services to the people,” she said.

Radio Tarana boasts of listeners across a broad spectrum of ethnic groups, including people of Indian, Indo-Fijian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepalese origin.
