Mega Diwali in Auckland

Hundreds of thousands of people would have been present at the Mega Diwali Festival held at the Aotea Square in Auckland on October 30 and 31, 2010.

With the Auckland City Council, the Indian High Commission, commercial banks and financial institutions and a number of Corporates, Associations and others involved, the Asia NZ organised annual event would have been a success.

What is arguably the largest cultural festival of its type, the event this year had a number of special segments including a magic show by Uday Jadugar and folk dances by a Rajasthan Group, specially flown to New Zealand through the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (New Delhi) and the Indian High Commission.

Governor General Rt Hon Anand Satyanand, Ministers, Members of Parliament, Indian High Commissioner Retired Admiral Sureesh Mehta were among the dignitaries present.
