Model of the Fortnight

On an earlier occasion, preparing for a beauty contest, she had told us that her long-term goal was to gain qualifications and the requisite expertise to become a nurse.

But Abigail Sen, our Model of the Fortnight, has apparently a different objective, at least in the short-term perspective.

She plans to become a hairstylist and beauty specialist, towards the achievement of which, she hopes to gain academic qualifications in the industry.

Abigail is currently enrolled at McGirr Training in Wellington to complete a course in literacy, numeracy and computing and is working towards obtaining her NCEA Levels Two and Three.

She said the training programmes are designed to help people enter employment, develop practical employment skills and continue further training, if required.

Born and raised in Suva, Fiji, Abigail was a tweenager when her family moved to Wellington.

A part-time worker at a major supermarket, Abigail also has a passion for dancing, modelling and music.

She adores her father, who she says, doubles as her mother (who passed away two years ago).

“I still miss her. My mother gave me her love, soul, in fact everything I had desired,” she said.

Abigail came under the spotlight at the Miss Wellington contest of the Miss Indianz Pageant held in the Capital on September 10, 2011.

As reported in our September 15, 2011 issue, she won the ‘Miss Beautiful Hair’ title at the regional contest.

“It was a great experience,” she said.
