Scholarship for Indian students

The Indian Government has announced its annual scholarship programme for children of the Indian Diaspora to pursue their undergraduate courses in India.

Applications close on June 10, 2013.

Administered by the Overseas Indian Affairs Ministry, the ‘Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children’’ (SPDC) aims to make higher education in India accessible to People of Indian Origin (PIO).

Launched in 2006, the annual programme provides for 100 students coming under the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) or PIO categories are awarded up to US$ 4000 per year to study for a number of undergraduate courses in India.

“The scheme is open to NRIs and PIO residing in 40 countries with a substantial Indian Diaspora population. Students can pursue undergraduate courses in Engineering, Architecture, Technology, Humanities, Liberal Arts, Commerce, Management, Journalism, Hotel Management, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Science, Law and many others,” a notification said.
