Soccer Tournaments challenge ace players

Mangere Centre Park will become a hive of football again from November 21 to 25, 2012 with the second Fiji Cup Championship Tournament.

After a successful NZ Fiji AFC’s 19th IDC 2012, which was won by Tavua over Rewa.

This was followed by Manukau Sanatan’s NZ Sanatan IDC 2012 at which Malolo Sanatan was crowned as the new champions defeating a young but energetic Ba Sanatan outfit by 3-0 in front of more than three thousand people.

The much-awaited Fiji Cup will kick off on November 21, with twelve teams battling for the top honours.

Ba, Rewa, Lautoka, Nadi, Suva, Nadogo, Navua, Savusavu, Hamilton, Wellington, Tavua and Nasinu teams will be drawn into three pools on November 15, and two best teams from each pool plus the two other best teams will take the seventh and eighth place in the quarter finals.

The tournament will feature some of the top Fiji based players like Jone Salauneune, Krishna Samy, Archie Watkins, Apisai Smith, Waisake Sabutu, Pita Rabo, Emosi Ragata, Kaushik Kumar, Nitan Niltesh Kumar, Laerio Nawatu, Samuela Kautoga and others pitching with our local stars.

Tavua’s IDC winning five-goal hero Shalvin Prasad is likely to come out of injury to provide that killer stint in the strike force for Tavua in their quest to regain supremacy.

Defending champions Ba of Fiji and Runners-Up Lautoka of Fiji were both denied participation by Fiji Football Association in this year’s Tournament, forcing the Organisers to go without teams from Fiji.

However, the MCPSA organisers were happy that their alternate concept of Pacific Cup without teams from Fiji was taken on board by the newly appointed Associate Members of Fiji FA.

The organisers are looking forward to another weekend of great football and welcome you to Centre Park.
