Supermodel contestant sports confidence

Venkat Raman –

Anxiety, excitement and expectation will be among the emotions that will rule contestants walking under the spotlight at a regional beauty contest scheduled to be held in Fiji later this month.

Self-confidence will be an added attribute of Neekita Naidu, who will represent the Fijian community at the regional finals at Pearl South Pacific Resort located at Pearl Harbour in Fiji from January 21 to 24, 2016.

The forthcoming event is the fourth phase in a long chain of events and contests, leading up to the grand title of ‘World Supermodel’ at the global final (Ninth in an annual series) due to be held in Bloemfontein in South Africa from March 12 to 21, 2016.

Nikita is justly proud of having crossed the first three stages and if she emerges successful in Fiji, South Africa will welcome her with warmth and affection.

The World Supermodel competition is for models aged between 20-30 years, “created to find out who are the next potential Supermodels regardless of their marital status.”

Neekita will be among 24 finalists in Fiji.

Globetrotting excites

Born in Fiji, Neekita migrated to New Zealand with her parents and siblings when she was six years old. Graduating in Travel & Tourism, she began her career in the industry as a database specialist at New Zealand Helloworld. She became an active model seven years ago and has appeared in catwalks, print advertisements and commercials. She has also hosted a number of events.

Her career has taken her to people and places. She has enjoyed her role as a promotor and corporate hostess, doing events such as the Rugby World Cup.

She believes that her placement as one of the Top 20 in the finals of the Miss Universe New Zealand competition held recently has boosted her confidence.

“I have gained experience in talking to the media, interacting with people and holding charity events. I love modelling as a part-time job, which gives me confidence meeting new people,” she said.

Lifetime opportunity

Bloemfontein will become the focus of world attention as 32 regional winners and finalists will stake their future, which will include a 12-month contract with ‘Trump Model Management,’ a major agency based in New York, USA.

“The World Supermodels Pageant is much more than the biggest Supermodel Pageant in the World. This choreographed show is an opportunity to discover the World’s most outstanding young women, and provide a platform for National achievement and international recognition,” Neekita said.
