Traditional send-off to Swimming team

Traditional send-off- Kumar Bajaj.jpgThe upcoming Commonwealth Games in the Indian Capital (Delhi 2010) may have caused embarrassment to the Indian Government and the Diaspora with many facilities remaining incomplete but that did not stop Swimming New Zealand from organising a send-off to its team in Auckland.

The event was held at the Millennium Institute in North Shore City.

As the countdown to the Games began, travel and tourism expert Harish Bajaj and his brother Kumar Bajaj were beaming with hope and confidence that the Games will pull off despite the uncertainties surrounding the event at that time.

“Let us brush aside feelings of negativity and adverse publicity. Let us go with a positive attitude, participate in the Games, win some medals and above all, enjoy the cultural experience,” Kumar Bajaj said.

He left for Delhi on September 25 to be a part of the New Zealand team.

Among those present at the send-off function were New Zealand Olympic Committee President Mike Stanley Swimming New Zealand Chief Executive Mike Byrne, North Shore City Mayor Andrew Williams and members of the Swimming Team.
